This month has been a particularly busy month, I think because it is so short, but with February gone, we are now coming into the third month of the year and I have read two non-fiction books so far. I think I am slaying the goals I set myself for 2018. So anyway, here’s a quick round-up of what I’ve been up to this past month.
Dane Cobain – Driven
This is probably one of my favourite reads so far in 2018. It’s a newly released detective novel written by author Dane Cobain which has similarities to Sherlock Holmes. If you are a fan of fiction and the odd detective series then this is one that I would very highly recommend.
I recently did a full review on this which you can find here.
Jenna Jameson – How To Make Love Like A Porn Star
I first read this book when I was about 18 years old. Drawn to it because of the cover, it was an impulse buy but after reading the sleeve I was intrigued to find out about what would lead someone into the adult entertainment industry.
I wasn’t really sure what to expect with this one but it has come to be one of my all-time favourite autobiographies – one quick tip if you decide to buy this though, don’t go out and read it on public transport unless you are happy to receive some dodgy looks from people who assume that because it’s Jenna Jameson, it’s porn.
This is yet another Netflix show that I have become addicted to.
I’d been seeing an awful lot of hype around for this one so decided to give it a go, after watching the first episode I was a little disappointed as it didn’t really make much sense and my initial thoughts were that it was a bit of a let down considering the reviews it got.
Having said that, I never give up on a show without watching at least 2 episodes just in case it is a slow burner and by the end of the second episode, I was hooked. I would definitely recommend giving this one a go but don’t expect too much from the off – give it a chance by watching a couple of episodes before you write it off and I imagine, like me, you will have the series finished before the week is through…
If you enjoy the TV show and can’t wait for the next season, then why not check out the books.
The Ultimate Fighter Season 26
What can I say, I am addicted to MMA at the moment and needed to catch up on the most recent season of The Ultimate Fighter, which just so happened to be an all-female flyweight division where one of them would win the title belt at the series finale.
The fighters in this season included some of my favourites from Invicta and Bellator like Rachael Ostavich, DeAnna Bennett, Montana Stewart (now De La Rosa) and Emily Whitmire and they are coached by Eddie Alvarez and Justin Gaethje. As always I was on team Ostavich for the win!
There are some pretty decent fights in this season but I think some of my favourite moments in the series are when Sijara Eubanks tries to make weight, especially when Lauren Murphy tries to swoop in and take her spot if she doesn’t make weight. If you are a fan of UFC or MMA in general and you haven’t watched this show, you should – then let me know who your favourites are.
I mentioned last month that I had joined a band and we are playing a lot of 90s Brit Pop so that has basically been on repeat on my playlist, boring I know!
I definitely need to get my hands on some tracks that I don’t usually listen to so if you have any suggestions, please let me know and I will check them out.
Well, I quit my job and I am now working for a really cool company that repairs and sells phones. I’ve only been there a couple of weeks but so far I am enjoying it and the management seem great. It also gives me a bit more time to focus on this blog again so I am looking forward to all the content that I can create with my spare time.
Other than that I have been mostly watching Matt play UFC 3 on his PS4 as he is absolutely addicted. I bought it for him a week after it’s release and after spending about a week doing the tutorials and learning how the complex controls work he finally decided to give career mode a try – he is now on his second career mode fighter.
This blog – as usual I have been doing a lot of work on this blog and you may have noticed that the website has had a bit of a facelift. I have also been working on my social media strategy so going forward, please make sure you follow me on the social media channels you use as I will be a lot more active.
Well, that’s about it from me, so let me know in the comments what you have been up to over the past month?
