I am a person who can get bored very easily if I’m doing something that I don’t particular have to do so I like to vary my fitness routine up so I have something that I will actually stick to. Now I know I don’t look like your typical gym-goer but I do like a good gym session, although I can’t go too often as I have issues with my hip that prevent me from working out as much as I would like to.
A couple of years ago the only exercise I was getting was literally walking my dog but once I began to accept myself for what I am and learnt to love myself I found that I wanted to take better care of myself, I wanted to eat less crap, exercise more and more importantly I started enjoying working out. You see, I guess I used to be the person with the old banger – it’s good enough to get them form A to B and you do all the routine maintenance that your supposed to do to keep it going but for the most part you just let it sit on the drive getting dirty. Now, well now I’m like the guy that lives around the corner from me with his prize Audi, it gets him from A to B and he does all the routine maintenance stuff but because he loves it, he also takes care of it by washing it every time he drives it, etc. It’s much easier to take care of something if you love it because it becomes easy, and stops being a chore.
Well, I have free weights at home that I use a lot and I also do quite a lot of body resistance exercises because they are great for when you can’t get to the gym and have absolutely no equipment. When I actually get to the gym, I tend to do a mixture of cardio and strength so I would normally start with 20 minutes on the bikes, after that I would spend about an hour on a full body strength work out and finish with 10 minutes on the rowing machine – pretty simple and boring really.
Recently I have started watching a lot of workout stuff on YouTube, especially Michelle Khare and Jordan Shahoub and will be trying out the celebrity workouts that they put up because it just looks like it could be fun and I like a challenge.
So what is your favourite work out routine?
