March has come to and end so I guess it’s that time of month again.
Body Positivity is a huge deal and you know I’m always willing to do what I can to spread awareness and encourage others to accept and embrace themselves so when I was approached by The Book Publicist and offered the chance to read Learning To Love The Girl In The Mirror by Helena Grace Donald, how could I resist. This book is for every girl who has ever looked in the mirror and criticised her own reflection; for every girl who has ever compared herself negatively to others; for every girl who has ever thought of dieting and also for all the girls who are already struggling with negative body image issues and unhealthy eating habits.

Road Racer: It’s In My Blood – Michael Dunlop
It is no secret that I happen to love Irish Road Racing, and on of my favourite riders… Michael Dunlop. Michael is a Legacy, Nephew of the late great Joey Dunlop, son of Robert and brother of William, it’s no surprise that racing is in his blood. Now Michael is not a man to do a lot of press interviews and like his privacy so I was excited to read this book and find out a bit more about him and his life. What I got from this book was an honest, raw account of his life, his experiences and it is an extremely inspiring read. Without a doubt, the most moving part of this book relates to the 2008 Northwest 200. I am not one to cry often but even I couldn’t get through that part without shedding a tear. The dedication is wonderfully fitting;
“For my dad. My hero. My inspiration.”
You should really check this book out yourself, even if you are not a fan of racing, you will still love it.
Dana White: Looking For A Fight
I know, I know, more UFC! Trust me though, there is not a lot of fighting in this and it is so entertaining. What a stroke of genius Dana had by involving Matt Sera, Din Thomas and Nick the Tooth.
Don’t believe me, then I dare you to watch the episode below…
I watched it the first time around but decided to give it another go to fill a bit of time and it’s still just as good the second time around – even though I keep kicking myself for not guessing who Gossip Girl actually is when there are so many clues through. Watching this brought me back a couple of years and although it seems very dated, it’s still a show that I love.
UFC 221: Cyborg vs Kunitskaya
Well what kind of month would it be if there was no UFC fights involved, it has truly become a monthly tradition in our house, at least once a month we stay up all night to watch. This month the main card was Cris Cyborg who was defending her title against Yana Kunitskaya, honestly I enjoyed the fight and I am losing hope of anyone ever beating Cyborg (Megan, please prove me wrong) but I can’t help but wonder why Kunitskaya ended up fighting Cyborg in her debut UFC fight. Don’t get me wrong, she’s awesome and her first fight against Evinger was epic but all I saw in this fight was a scared little girl which was a little disappointing, especially after the previous night’s resolution.
Which brings me on to the co main event between Brian Ortega and Frankie Edgar, all I can say is, if you didn’t see it then you should check it out. Another notable fight of the evening would be Mackenzie Dern vs Ashley Yoder, Dern did great for her debut UFC fight but if she wants to go the distance with the bigger players in her weight category she definitely needs to work on her striking technique as it was all over the place, and where was her defence! I kept waiting for Ashley to catch her on a counter but it just didn’t happen.
Music has taken a back seat this month and I have mainly been listening to whatever comes on the radio. However, one of my favourite bands this month has to be Kaleo. I absolutely love their music.
This month has been pretty quiet really. We had Matt’s dads birthday and Mother’s Day this month so as my mum lives a fair distance we spent a little time with the in laws and went for a nice meal. Other than that this month has been pretty boring really as I have just been settling in at my new job and doing all the stuff that comes with adulting, like dealing with insurance, MOTing the car and giving the house a spring clean.
I’m looking for some recommendations for next month so please let me know in the comments, what’s your favourite book, TV show, movie or band?
