I’ve gone backwards and forwards about what I want for this blog, for myself and more important, you. I must confess, when I first set this blog up it was with one purpose in mind. I wanted to document my views and experiences with body positivity, but now my goals have shifted. I started receiving messages from people who were somehow affected by what I had to say, and I realised that it was so much more than my experiences alone.
So now, this blog is a mixture of information, support and guidance related to body positivity, mental health and self-care. Although I will also be throwing in the odd book or product review too, you know, to keep things interesting.
So, what can you expect from this blog?
Well, you tell me. If you want me to discuss mental health and all that taboo stuff, I’m game for that. Body positivity, well yeah, expect a shit ton of that! Fashion, style, beauty, health and fitness… Why not? The one thing that I can guarantee you will receive is honesty, after all I wouldn’t want to start our budding new friendship based on lies…
Speaking of friendships, allow me to introduce myself…
I’m Haley and I’m a very outspoken child of the 80’s, taught never to back down from a challenge. My challenge? Being an overweight woman suffering from severe anxiety is a constant battle!
I was born in a town called Huddersfield in West Yorkshire but travelled a lot while I was growing up. When I left school, I joined the Royal Air Force Medical Service and had ten years with some of the best people I know. I often wonder where my life would have taken me if I had taken a different path, but I have a lot to thank the Military for. If it wasn’t for the Military, I wouldn’t have met my amazing husband, or my furbaby Keo.
Keo is a gorgeous little Kokoni that we adopted while living in Cyprus and brought back to the UK with us. Even though he is nine he still looks like a puppy.

So that’s my past, what about my present?
Well, now I’m a woman who loves to spend her time writing and browsing through Instagram feeds. I live in my own house with the best husband I could wish for (most days) and a dog who thinks he is Houdini. No matter how hard we try, we cannot keep him in the garden without being on a rope, even the six-foot fence is no obstacle.
I love to travel even though I hate flying, I am pretty handy in the kitchen as long as I have a recipe to follow and I sing too. Most of all, I love to be a little lazy sometimes and I am all about cosy jumpers and hot chocolate. Motorbike Road Racing, liquid lipsticks, good internet, coffee, friends and family are awesome.
In short, I am a fat woman (yes I said fat) who has learned to accept and even love my body as it is. I enjoy the occasional trip to the gym, and some sporty activities and as mentioned before, anxiety is something I tend to struggle with a lot.
I try to be as positive as I can be and, in my life, when things are good I am super happy, but when things are bad it’s a struggle. I sometimes even wonder if I might suffer from bipolar disorder as I have heavy periods of depression followed by periods of highly elevated mood, and I make impulsive decisions without thinking about the consequences. I have never been tested though so for now, I will continue to battle my other demons rather than add to the list.
With that said, I am very friendly and love to be social (most of the time) so please feel free to join me on Instagram, Twitter or any of the other online places you can find me. I promise, when I am not in a passive aggressive state where I have to put myself in some sort of time out, I’m pretty good to talk to.
